Culinary Institute

The way people prepare and eat their meals is one of the most important parts of the day. This project began with an examination of how we eat compared to how various famous chefs serve their food.

We then combined that with precedent studies of vernacular architecture and created our own rule set or “language”. This led to the creation of a field model based on our “language”, which became an influential factor in the form of our Culinary Institute Design.

Lastly, we took all of the information we gathered and adjusted it based on the climate and biome studies of our site in Pittsburgh, PA.

Throughout this project, you will find the in-progress massing models, diagrams, and inspiration that drove our design. As well as the final design diagrams and technical drawings!
